T20 WC warm-up: India defeat Sri Lanka by 26 runs
The Lankan were bowled out for 120 runs after India set them a target of 147 runs. Irfan Pathan took 5-25, while Dhoni blasted a crucial half-century.
Skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first on the P Sara Oval wicket. India was stung early when Gautam Gambhir had to retire after scoring 4 runs. Gambhir was done in by a delivery which smacked into his hands.
Gambhir's departure brought out Suresh Raina, who smashed two boundaries in his brief 13-run stay. Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh went without adding much and leaving the scoreline at a precarious 51-4.
With India in trouble, under fire Rohit Sharma and skipper MS Dhoni combined to put on a partnership of 78 runs for the fifth wicket.
While Rohit's 37 was laced with one six, Dhoni finished on an unbeaten 55 as India posted a target of 147 runs.
In reply, Sri Lanka lost quick wickets with Irfan Pathan removing openers Dilshan Munaweera and Tillakaratne Dilshan. Wicket-keeper batsman, Kumar Sangakkkara came to Lanka's rescue with a knock of 32 runs.
When Sanga was batting it looked like Lanka would seal the chase, but Harbhajan Singh bowled the left-hander and put India at the top of the proceedings. Lahiru Thirimanne and Jeevan Mendis put up a fight but their efforts were not good enough to take Sri Lanka across the winning line.
