Sachin Tendulkar in IPL
He had to wait six seasons to lay his hands on the glittering IPL trophy, and by the time he finally could, Sachin Tendulkar had decided to draw curtains on his illustrious career.
While on one hand was the joy of winning their maiden IPL title, Mumbai Indians were also, at the same time, bidding farewell to its most celebrated cricketing icon.
At 40, and having added another glittering trophy to his never-ending list of achievements, Sachin announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game, much to the dismay of his fans. The IPL career ended perfectly, Sachin said as Mumbai were crowned winners and their skipper Rohit Sharma did not shy away from dedicating the title to the iconic batting legend.
Months down the line Sachin returns in Mumbai colours, one last time, as the reigning IPL champions fight it out with the best of the world for their second Champions League title. Can they win it again to give Master Blaster a befitting farewell?
After six seasons, 2334 runs and a century in the fastest format of the game, as we come to the end of another phase of Sachin’s glorious career, here’s a pictorial recollection of his time in Mumbai jersey.
