India are slated to play 5 ODIs and one T20 game against the hosts.
India last played in an ODI fixture back in Asia Cup, which was well before the fifth edition of Indian Premier League. This effectively means team hasn't been together for nearly 3 months and it will be a challenge for Duncan Fletcher to get the team into the act again.
Following World Cup triumph in April 2011, Indian team has struggled to come up with top performances, especially on foreign soil. The team failed to win a single ODI in England during the bilateral series and it only got worse in Australia, where the Men in Blue failed to make it to the finals following a string of poor performances.
India last visited Sri Lanka to take part in the 2010 edition of Asia Cup, where they were defeated by Sri Lanka in the final at Dambulla. With moderate success in recent fixtures in the Emerald Isles, India will need to pull up their socks for a better result this time around. The visit also gives the team a perfect opportunity to acclimatize to conditions at fairly new venues like Hambantota, which will see a few T20 World Cup matches later this year.
