According to The Mirror, England bosses briefly considered banning tweets, but Swann, whose Twitter duel with team-mate Jimmy Anderson has become the stuff of legend in the dressing room, last night revealed the censors had spared him.

Ashes hero Swann said: "There wasn't a fall-out from that episode as such but someone did have a word with Bres and advised him that having a go at a stranger using expletives wasn't the best way forward.

"Putting electronic gadgets in the hands of a Yorkshire fast bowler is never a good combination, but you are expected to use them with a level of intelligence," he added.
