Reliance World Cup: India v Australia, 9 October 1987: Lost by one run
The Australians batted first and racked up 270 runs in Chepauk, courtesy a 110-run knock from opener Geoff Marsh. Srikkanth's 70 and Sidhu's 73 kept India in the hunt. The game went down to the final over where the home side needed six runs to pull off a victory with the last man Maninder Singh taking strike. Maninder Singh managed to run two 2's, but Steve Waugh, who was bowling the last over, finally nailed him with a delivery that crashed straight into the batsman's stumps. India's number eleven was accounted for and the home team lost a riveting contest by a margin of a single run.
