A befitting victory for Kolkata Knight Riders. It took them five years to win the title, but they have done it tonight in a stunning fashion, chasing a mammoth 191 against Chennai in front of a packed house supporting the defending champions. Full credit to Bisla and Kallis for the 100+ second wicket stand which brought Kolkata back into the game. They started off well, choked in between but deservingly won it in the end without panicking, as Kallis said.

Shah Rukh Khan says I want to thank Gambhir and the boys for this victory. Does his somersault act again!

Jacques Kallis, in his post match interview, says "CSK are a champion side, credit to our guys to beat them at their home ground, they don't get beaten a lot here...We did not panic, that was the key. At times, you can panic chasing 190."

Yusuf Pathan credits team skipper Gautam Gambhir. "He has supported the players a lot. We have played as a team. We enjoyed each others' success."

Wasim Akram, the KKR coach, says "I have won World Cup for Pakistan, but this is very different feeling."

KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan personally greeting every one near the team dug-out. Hugs and greetings being exchanged.

Celebrations all over even as the crowd is stunned and disappointed to see the home team losing. The Kolkata players run to the field. A visibly happy Gautam Gambhir comes to the field and his teammates lift him on their shoulders. He deserves a lot of credit for leading KKR to this title victory tonight.

Over 20: Phenomenal! Outstanding achievement for Kolkata Knight Riders. They win their maiden IPL trophy! What a journey this has been! Bravo gives just two off as many deliveries before Tiwary picked up couple of consecutive boundaries to finish it off with two balls to spare! Superb batting display despite losing a very early wicket. KKR beat the defending champions Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets to win their maiden title!

Over 19: WICKET! Hilfenhaus comes back into the attack and produces a wicket! A very crucial wicket for Chennai. Kallis departs. 69 off 49 balls, stunning effort which helped KKR make a strong comeback but will this be a match-winning effort too? KKR needed him to stay and finish the game for them. It just got bit tougher for KKR now. Last ball is a no-ball from Hilfy. KKR get two runs and a free hit. Four to end the over. 11 runs off the over, good one for KKR despite losing Kallis' wicket. Nine required off the final six deliveries.

Score: 182-5 after 19 overs, need 9 more to win from 6 balls

20 required off 12 balls now. Kolkata Knight Rider's first of Chennai's hattrick?

Over 18: Ashwin comes back into the attack and strikes off the very first ball. Wicket number four for Chennai as Pathan departs after yet another failure this season. He tried to go for a big shot, ball takes the top-edge loops high in the air, Badrinath has all the time to settle under it. Not a great over for Kolkata, as Kallis seems to have pulled his hamstring now. Dhoni tried to run him out, direct hit was required at the keeper's end and Kallis survives in the end but he is on the ground. KKR need Kallis in this chase. He gets some treatment as there is a slight halt. Back on his feet and the South African decides to continue. Seven off the over and a wicket. Shakib Al Hasan, meanwhile, gets off the mark with a single.

Score: 171-4 after 18 overs, need 20 more to win from 12 balls

Ashwin back into the attack

Over 17: WICKET! Bravo strikes, Chennai getting a couple of quick wickets here. Shukla departs. He was promoted up the order but the experiment doesn't work! Yusuf Pathan walks in and opens his account with a single. It is Kallis who spoils Bravo's over, closing it with a boundary and a six! Michael Hussey almost caught Kallis, leaped high in the air but couldn't hold on to it. 12 runs of the over and a wicket.
Over summary: 0.W.1.1.4.6
Score: 164-3 after 17 overs, need 27 more to win from 18 balls

Bravo comes back into the attack.

Over 16: Another good over for Kolkata. Kallis taking charge now. He doesn't want to leave it to the last balls. Two back to back boundaries off Jakati, eleven off the over. 150 comes up for KKR with the second four from Kallis. With that he also brings up his own fifty. Sensible knock from the senior pro. 39 required from 4 remaining overs, very much possible. More so, because they do have 8 wickets in hand still.
Over summary: 1.4.4.1.0.1
Score: 152-2 after 16 overs, need 39 more to win from 24 balls
