President hopes India draws inspiration from the success of the two finalists and builds football in India.
In what is seen as a goodwill gesture towards our European allies, President Pranab Mukherjee, too to Twitter to congratulate the German team on winning their fourth World Cup title at the Maracana.
While also offering his commiserations to the Argentinian team, who finished runners up, Mukherjee hoped Indian football drew inspiration from the two super-powers to further the progress of the sport in the Subcontinent.
"Congrats Germany, bravo Argentina, compliments host Brazil, Indian Football, let's draw inspiration, scale new heights," read the President’s tweet.
Mario Gotze scored in extra time, to ensure a German victory, after it ended goalless in regulation time.
