India 0 - 4 Bayern

Goal scorers - Mario Gomez (14th Min), Thomas Muller (29th Min and 39th Min), Bastian Schweinsteiger (43rd Min)

It has been a very entertaining night of football here at the Nehru stadium in New Delhi. More importantly, it was nice to see Bhaiching fight it out one last time. He has done it for India on many occasions in the past and it was just another night for him. Maybe, his team could have given him a batter farewell. They at least did that in the second period after a dreadful first half.

90 minutes - It has been a spirited performance by India in the second period and although there weren't any goals scored in the half, India certainly gave a very good account of themselves. But, that doesn't take away the fact that Bayern started off strong and took complete control of the game in the first few minutes itself. It was never easy for India to get back into the game afterwards.

The Germans looked into auto mode right through the 90 minutes. It is a comprehensive win in the end for Bayern Munich. But, India definitely did not disgrace themselves in the second period. First half won by Bayern, second half shared and the match won by Bayern. That's the way the game has gone tonight

85 minutes - Bhaichung Bhutia's last moments in an international match. He is replaced in the 84th minute by Savio and there is a rousing reception from the spectators. One poster in the stands sums up the legend's contribution - 'Who will replace Bhaichung Bhutia'. That certainly is the million dollar question. Great gesture from Bayern players as they shake hands with the Sikkimese Sniper, whose
glorious career has come to an end tonight at New Delhi. We will certainly miss the legend. Please take a look at our special paying rich tribute to the striker, where we looked at some glorious moments in his international career

80 minutes - Some nervy moments for the German defence but nothing very serious or threatening. It is more a case of the crowd getting more excited at every possible move. But, there is no denying that the Indians have not allowed their superior opponents to out-muscle them. Meanwhile, Daniel Pranjic comes up with a screaming strike that bangs straight into the hands of Subhashish. Excellent goalkeeping by the Dempo custodian.

75 minutes - The game has slowed down considerably and it looks as if the Germans are more intent on counter-attacks in the second period. There is at least one statistic where India have matched their German counterparts tonight and that is in the number of corners. Both sides have 2 each but the difference has been in the quality of execution. Substitute Jewel Raja comes up with a princely shot but unfortunately for him, the ball hits his own colleague Jeje and rebounds back into the middle. That strike from Raja was definitely goal-bound. Much better performance from the Indians.
India 0 - 4 Bayern
Goal scorers - Mario Gomez (14th Min), Thomas Muller (29th Min and 39th Min), Bastian Schweinsteiger (43rd Min)

70 minutes - India's defense looks more organized in this second period but that problem of inviting trouble seems to continue for the Indians. The better news seems to be coming from the midfield and forward line. Jeje looks very sharp and full of ideas but he needs to learn to be patient. You can't always score a goal with one touch in football. You need to build a great move and look for the perfect finish. Jeje's time will come in the days ahead. India 0 - 4 Bayern
