D'Ambrosio to replace Grosjean at Monza

Milan: Lotus has announced that Jerome D'Ambrosio will replace Romain Grosjean in Sunday's Italian Grand Prix after the Frenchman was banned for one race after causing a spectacular crash at the Belgian GP at the weekend.

Lotus says that D'Ambrosio had a seat fitting Sunday and "is working closely with the team to ensure a seamless transition from third driver to race driver for Monza."

The crash at Spa sent Formula One championship leader Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez off the track at the first corner.

D'Ambrosio, who is Belgian of Italian descent, competed last season as a top driver for the Marussia Virgin Racing team, with his best finish 14th, twice.
