FIA moves Monaco GP forward by a week

Paris: Motor racing's governing body has moved the Monaco Grand Prix forward by a week next year to allay the Formula One teams' concerns about travel arrangements.

The Monaco GP will now be staged May 16 after initially being scheduled for May 23. That would have left the teams with only a few days to ship their cars for the Turkish race on May 30.

FIA also said on Wednesday in a statement that it approved "in principle a proposal to swap the dates of the Abu Dhabi and Brazilian grands prix, pending agreement with the promoters of both events".

The Abu Dhabi race is currently scheduled for October 31, and the Brazilian GP to conclude the season on November 14.

The season will start with the Bahrain GP on March 14.
