2007-08: RP Singh - Following Zaheer Khan's unfortunate injury, RP Singh took the responsibility on his head and came up with some really lion-hearted performances during the tour. He moved the ball both ways and did that with considerable pace. RP ended with 13 wickets at 39 a piece and this included a match-winning 4/68 at the WACA, where India recorded a historic win.

2011-12: Umesh Yadav - It is not a like-for-like change given the fact that RP is a left-arm bowler and Umesh is a right-arm bowler. But, since India haven't gone with a single left-arm quickie this time, we decided to place Umesh as RP's replacement. The lone Indian quick to impress in the practice fixtures against Cricket Australia Chairman's XI was Umesh Yadav. Even as other Indian bowlers kept spraying the ball at Canberra, Umesh was sharp, accurate and bowled with immaculate control. He ended with 3 for 39 and has virtually guaranteed his place in the starting XI for the Boxing Day Test. Can he keep it going at the MCG, where you can expect nearly 1 lakh people in the stands.
