Kohli for Ganguly
2007-08: Sourav Ganguly - Dada was not the captain this time around but he ensured his influence was always there when the team needed it the most. During the ugly Bhajji-Symmo saga, Ganguly played a big role in ensuring things didn't blow out of control. After all, Ganguly was among the few Indian captains to bring on-field aggression into every player within the team and that helped big time. The 'Prince of Kolkata' was below par with his batting performance and averaged just over 29 for his 235 runs. But, he got full marks for his role as a mentor.
2011-12: Virat Kohli - In all likelihood, Virat Kohli will fill in the shoes of Sourav Ganguly this time around. Kohli has been gradually drafted in to the big world of Test cricket and that certainly was the way to do it. Over the last 3 years, Kohli has played enough international cricket, been a part of a World Cup winning campaign and has showed exemplary leadership qualities. Now is the time for him to break into the big league. He has the technique and temperament to succeed in Australia and middle order will depend a whole lot on his performance.
