2007-08: Dhoni was two years into Test cricket when he had his first tour of Australia and it was promising but not really mind-blowing. MSD managed to dig in for 141 runs but believe it or not, his strike rate was among the lowest for recognised batsmen. Dhoni scored his runs at 37.5 and didn't manage to get a single half century. Having said that, he looked alright against the Aussie quicks. His wicket-keeping too had some promising moments. He finished with 13 dismissals including 10 catches and 3 stumpings.

2011-12: Dhoni is a total revelation when it comes to recent times. 2011 was an action-packed year for Mahi. He first led his team to a historic world cup triumph and then faced an ignominious 4-0 whitewash. It was a ride from the peak to nadir in a matter of 3 months for the Indian captain. Despite that, he held his footing and led India to a 2-0 win over the West Indies at home. Australia will be a massive challenge for MSD. He will have to deliver big time as a player and a captain to show to the world that his success rate was no flash in the pan
