Javed Miandad revived Pakistan's first innings with a defiant unbeaten 129 after Alan Hurst had reduced the visitors to 909-5 early on Day 1. Pakistan managed 277 and the hosts took a comfortable 50 runs' lead. Hurst, once again, rattled the Pakistani line-up with 5-94 as the visitors folded for mere 285 in their second innings. Chasing a comfortable 236 for a win, the openers gave Australia a good start before Hilditch was given out to the controversial handled ball decision. However, Rick Darling (79) and Alan Border (66*) lead the home team to a comfortable 7 wicket victory in the final hour of the final day.
