Chasing 268 for the finals berth, Team India slipped from a comfortable 180-2 to 219-6 in no time. The seesaw battle between the arch rivals went down to the wire as Suresh Raina was run out in the last over with India still 5 shy. However, in a nail-biting finish, Harbhajan Singh wrapped it up in style, with a six off the penultimate ball to take India to the finals. Earlier, half centuries from Salman Butt (74) and wicket keeper Kamran Akmal (51) guided Pakistan to 267 in their allotted 50 overs.
