One triple and two doubles--whenever Clarke batted...he batted on. Minutes, hours, ticked away, bowlers ran out of ideas, fielders ran out of breath, warm applause and raucous cheers spread through the crowd, and runs came in a flood. Clarke became the first cricketer to smash four double hundreds and break Ricky Ponting's record of most Test runs in a calendar year. The Australian skipper finished with 1595 runs in 11 Tests at an average of 106.33. The peak of his batting exploits came against India in the Sydney Test where he clobbered an unbeaten 329.
