January 19, 2013 will be a red-letter day for Indian skipper MS Dhoni
On this day, for the very first time, 'Captain Marvel' will play an international match on his home turf. The JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi is set to host England in the third ODI of the 5-match series. With a 40,000 capacity and world-class facilities to boast of, the stadium is ready to stake its claim as one of the finest cricket grounds in the country.
Speaking to MSN India, President of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA), Amitabh Choudhary said, "We firmly believe this stadium should be one of the finest in the country if not the very best. Whether in terms of aesthetics, engineering or design there would hardly be equals to this edifice."
He further added, "The stadium design ensures that irrespective of where a viewer may be sitting there are shall be no visual obstructions such as concrete or steel columns or nets."
"Another unique feature, and a first for India, are the two green top, east and west, hills for spectators. The crowning glory of the stadium, of course, is the Ferrari tensile membrane roof which invests it with its unique beauty. "
The stadium is not only engineered differently, it also claims to take a separate path when it comes to producing pitches.
"As with the other features, we intend to break from the past and in keeping with this the nine pitches of the main ground are going to be lively," JSCA president Amitabh Choudhary told to MSN India.
