International cricket comes back to Pakistan
On March 3, 2009, a group of Islamic militants attacked a bus carrying the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, killing 6 cops and injuring seven Lankan cricketers. The Pakistan Cricket Board has since struggled to convince the international community to reconsider playing cricket in their country. The ones who have suffered the most due to the actions of a few fanatic extremists are the Pakistani cricket fans, who have been deprived of the one thing they love for the past three years.
On October 20, their wait finally ended when Pakistan hosted the International World XI team for an exhibition match against the Pakistan All Stars. Although the players featured in the game were mostly the stars of a bygone era, it was a full house at the National Stadium in Karachi and the crowd was more alive than ever. Here's a look at some of the pictures from this emotional comeback of cricket in Pakistan.
