Lesson no. 1 - Don't underestimate your opponents

A reassuring victory in the first Test in Ahmedabad made Team India complacent. While the home team under-estimated their opposition after a thumping win in the first Test, the visitors learnt from their mistakes and returned rejuvenated for remainder of the series. England, led by captain Cook put up a stronger display and mowed down India in the next two Test matches. By the time MS Dhoni & co. could realize what went wrong and why, England had taken an unassailable 2-1 lead.
