Date: 14 April 1995
Match: India v Sri Lanka, final
Result: India won by 8 wickets
Venue: Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium

Why the knock is valuable?

India knocked off Lanka for 230 and then slipped into some trouble of their own. When Sachin departed leaving India at 58-2, Lankans saw an opening to get back into the game. It is in such circumstances that Azhar and Sidhu picked up the innings. Sidhu's workman-like and Azhar's artistic knock lifted India out of the gloom in the bright glow of a victory in the final of Asia Cup. The only reason we've chose to highlight Azhar over Sidhu--the Indian captain dazzled in the match hitting five boundaries and two sixes, ran the regular ones and twos and ensured that with the frenetic pace of scoring, India would end the game with more than 8 overs to spare.
