Two of India’s most popular cancer survivors, India’s cricketing heartthrob Yuvraj Singh and Bollywood beauty Manisha Koirala came together in an attempt to create awareness and spread the message that cancer is not the end.
The duo shared their cancer stories, with millions of people affected with the ailment, asserting how one can overcome the disease if they have the will to do so. The strength to fight against the disease comes from within, your family, friends and well-wishers, said India’s World Cup hero.
362 runs, 15 wickets and the Man of the Tournament award – Yuvraj’s consistency, both with the bat as well as the ball, made India’s World Cup dream possible.
However, months after leading Team India to their second World Cup title, Yuvraj Singh fell prey to a rare germ cell cancer. What followed next was extensive treatment, chemotherapy and rehabilitation that forced Yuvi out of the game for almost a year.
The ultimate fighter, Yuvi made a comeback to the national side with a 26-ball 34 against the Kiwis and a double-ton in domestic cricket. Lackluster show in the T20 World Cup forced the selectors to drop the 30-year old.
With the will to stage yet another comeback, Yuvraj proved his worth against West Indies A and in the domestic Challenger Trophy to stake his claim in the national side for the upcoming series against Australia at home.
Yuvraj’s battle against cancer, his cricketing career, story of highs and lows and comebacks is nothing short of a Bollywood script. As Yuvi prepares to take on Aussies, we at MSN India bring you this rare collection of some of the best images from Yuvraj’s career. Click on to enjoy this visual treat
