1928, Amsterdam: Gold. India defeated the Netherlands 3-0 in the final to win their first ever Olympic gold medal. Hockey wizard Dhyan Chand scored 14 goals in the tournament.
1932, Los Angeles: Gold. India beat USA 24-1 in the final to win their second gold medal.
1936, Berlin: Gold. India beat Germany 8-1 in the final, to win their third gold medal. It is believed that Adolf Hitler offered Dhyan Chand German citizenship after watching him play.
1948, London: Gold. India defeated Great Britain 4-0 in the final to win their first gold medal as an independent country, and fourth overall.
1952, Helsinki: Gold. India beat Netherlands 6-1 in the final, to win their fifth Olympic gold medal.
1956, Melbourne: Gold. India beat Pakistan 1-0 in the final, to win their sixth consecutive Olympic gold medal.
1960, Rome: Silver. India lost to Pakistan 0-1 in the final, and settled for the silver medal.
1964, Tokyo: Gold. India beat Pakistan 1-0 in the final to win their seventh gold medal.
1968, Mexico: Bronze. India beat West Germany 2-1 to win the bronze medal.
1972, Munich: Bronze. India beat Holland 2-1 to win the bronze medal.
1980, Moscow: Gold. India beat Spain 4-3 in the final to win their 8th gold medal.
