Mary Kom, whose full name is Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom hails from the north eastern state of Manipur. A five time boxing champion, Mary was the only woman boxer from India to qualify for the London Summer Olympics 2012. Mary was born in the province of Kangathei in the state of Manipur where her parents, Mangte Tompa Kom and Mangte Akham Kom earned their livelihood by working in jhum fields.
