Sarah Attar - First female athlete ever from Saudi Arabia
If someone can ever get into this list for mere participation and not performance, it has to be Sarah Attar. Though Attar finished last in her 800M race, she received a rousing reception from the whole stadium. Attar finished a good 30 seconds behind her nearest rival but walked away with plenty of joy. She later described the experience as a highly inspirational one. Attar could well prove to be a big source of inspiration herself for aspiring Saudi sportswomen in the days to come.
