Paes recommended for Padma Bhushan
Tennis star and winner of eight doubles and six mixed doubles Grand Slam titles, Leander Paes has been nominated for the Padma Bhushan award, according to a Times of India report
Paes is not new to government awards with the Kolkata-based tennis player winning the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, Arjuna award and Padma Shri.
With victory at the 2013 US Open, Paes became the oldest man to win a Grand Slam title.
The sports ministry had recommended Rahul Dravid and Sushil Kumar for the Padma Bhushan last year with the former India cricketer winning the award.
